History

History of the Küçükkemikli Barges

The sinking date and cause of the barge, which is 17.5 meters long and 6 meters wide, are not precisely known. Located at a depth of approximately 30 meters, the wooden parts of the wreck have decayed over time, while its metal sections have been largely preserved. During the landings, landing crafts called "barges"—featuring a steel hull and a wooden deck—were utilized to ensure that soldiers on transport ships could reach the shore safely in shallow waters. Following the landings, these vessels continued to be used for transporting soldiers, provisions, ammunition, and livestock.

Dive Equipment Information
