Built in 1908 in Beverley, England, the vessel Lundy was originally a fishing ship owned by the Hull Steam Fishing & Ice Company prior to the war. Equipped with a Smith-manufactured engine, the ship measured 33.6 × 6.5 meters. Although used for civilian purposes before the Gallipoli Campaign, the outbreak of war led to the vessel being requisitioned and assigned to minesweeping duties in Çanakkale.

On 16 August 1915, while loading ammunition, Lundy collided with a vessel named Kalyan, which was attempting to evade fire from Turkish artillery. As a result of the damage sustained, Lundy sank. Lying at a depth of 27 meters, the wreck has largely retained its integrity, except for damage to the stern, which caused the sinking.

Diving Equipment Information

The equipment used for diving includes standard scuba gear. A 3–5 mm wetsuit is suitable between April and October, while a 7 mm neoprene wetsuit, a semi-dry suit, or a dry suit is worn between November and March.
