Built in 1885 by Barcley, Curle and Co. Clydeholm, the Tuzla Steamer was a side-paddle vessel that transported wounded soldiers, ammunition, and supplies to the Çanakkale Front. Formerly named Worthing Belle, the steamer was purchased in 1913 by Şirket-i Hayriye for passenger transportation and renamed Tuzla. The vessel measured 65 × 5 meters and weighed 193 tons.

Throughout the battles at the Çanakkale Front, Akbaş Harbor served as the main supply base, receiving ships arriving from the Marmara Sea. Ammunition and provisions from vessels anchored there were transported from the harbor to the front. Wounded soldiers returning from the front were also sent from this pier to hospitals established in İstanbul by ship. After loading its cargo at Akbaş Harbor, the Tuzla Steamer was torpedoed and sunk on August 30.

Diving Equipment Information

The equipment used for diving includes standard scuba gear. A 3–5 mm wetsuit is suitable between April and October, while a 7 mm neoprene wetsuit, a semi-dry suit, or a dry suit is worn between November and March.
