Akbaş Cove / Nara Point / Bigalı CastleNet Barriers were manufactured at the Golden Horn (Haliç) Shipyard to prevent submarines from passing through the straits. Designed in a 4 X 4 mesh pattern, each section of the nets is square. Having a length of 60 meters and a depth of 30 meters, the Net Barriers were positioned between AkbaÅŸ Bay and Nara Point, as well as between Bigalı Castle and Nara Point. A total of 25 nets, installed between June 26 and July 27, spanned an area of approximately 1,500 meters between buoys. One of the 60-meter nets identified in AkbaÅŸ Bay stands as an example of these Net Barriers, still waiting to be explored by divers after 106 years.
The equipment used for diving includes basic scuba gear. A 3-5mm wet neoprene wetsuit can be worn from April to October, while a 7mm wet neoprene, semi-dry, or drysuit is suitable from November to March.
